On-board electronics

  • DSP: Freescale Symphony DSP56720 (formerly Motorola), 400 MHz-equivalent
  • SS Memory: Samsung K4S281632K-UC/L75, 128Mb K-die SDRAM
  • The algorithm for tube simulation runs @ >700 kHz sampling rate
  • Audio latency: 2 ms and a bit.

Dimensions

Head/PowerHead

  • Height: 21.7 cm (8.54 inches)
  • Width: 37.8 cm (14.88 inches)
  • Depth: 17.3 cm (6.81 inches)

Profiler head’s back compartment’s size Opening dimensions = 12 1/4"(w) × 3 3/8"(h). Inside dimensions = 14 3/8"(w) × 4 7/8"(h) × 2 7/8"(d).

NOTE: As of July, 2013 three different versions of the Profiler head alone exist, with slightly different measures. Details will be published here ASAP.

Rack/PowerRack

  • Height: 13.9 cm (5.47 inches), 3 HE (3 RU)
  • Width: 48.3 cm (19 inches)
  • Depth: 22 cm (8.66 inches)

Weight

Head

  • 5.32 kg (11.73 pounds)

Rack

  • 5.00 kg (11.02 pounds)

PowerHead

  • 6.50 kg (14.33 pounds)

PowerRack

  • 6.18 kg (13.62 pounds)

Analog Inputs

Front Input

  • ¼ inch TS unbalanced, dynamic range >108dB, impedance 1 MΩ

Alternative Input

  • ¼ inch TRS balanced with ground lift, dynamic range =105 dB

Return

  • XLR balanced, ¼ inch balanced with ground lift, dynamic range =105 dB

Analog Outputs

Master L and R Outputs

  • XLR balanced, ¼ inch TS unbalanced with ground lift max. output level: XLR +22 dBu, TS +16 dBu

Monitor Output

  • ¼ inch TS unbalanced with ground lift. Max. output level: +16 dBu

Direct Output/Send

  • ¼ inch TS unbalanced with ground lift max. output level: +16 dBu

Output Dynamic Range

  • >108 dB

Dedicated Headphone Output

  • ¼ inch TRS stereo, 33 Ω

Digital Audio I/O

S/PDIF

  • Coax. Input and Output, RCA phone connectors, 44.1 kHz, 24 bit, Master only.

We have no plans to provide sampling frequencies other than 44.1 kHz and sync master. There are technical reasons that prevent us from implementing this.

Power Amp

The power amp is mono. It is fed by the monitor output signal.

PowerHead and PowerRack

  • 600 watts @ 8 Ω
  • 300 watts @ 16 Ω

Control and Data Interfaces

MIDI

  • 5-pin DIN connectors for In/Out/Thru

Switch/Pedal

  • Two 1/4 inch TRS, each for mono/stereo switch or expression pedal (10 kΩ min, 100 kΩ max. impedance) The connection for expression pedals is set to "Roland" standard. The wiper goes to the tip, the end of the potentiometer goes to the ring. The value of the potentiometer should be between 10K and 100K linear. Generally the assignment at the jack is free and the range can be calibrated in the KPA.

Network

  • RJ45 connector

USB

  • USB 2.0 (FS) compatible device, USB-A and USB-B connectors

USB audio is not planned, as this would require the KPA to be the sole audio interface for your DAW. Remember: You can only use one audio interface on your daw without hassle. And we assume that you all own a more appropriate audio interface.
