There is an option to "include in Browse pool". This will save tweaks to Performance Mode rigs to corresponding rigs in Browse Mode.
Any changes made to any rig in a performance require the entire performance to be saved to save those changes. Changes to one slot within a performance will remain even if you load a different slot within the same performancevia the d-pad on the KPA itself; however, if you switch slots using a footcontroller/MIDI, but the changes will be lost once discarded. Similarly, changing to a different performance, even using the d-pad will discard any changes to the performance and its slots.
