==== Tempo ====
The speed of a piece, describing the number of beats per minute. Usually indicated at the beginning of musical notation but can change throughout a piece. See [[Music Theory Basics]].
==== Thick ====
Usually means the tone has a strong low-frequency response, but in a favorable balance with other frequencies. The lower frequencies are generally undistorted and "tight" as opposed to loose or muddy. Usually used in a positive context - you are more likely to hear that the tone was "too dark" instead of "too thick".
Opposite of [[#Thin]].
==== Thin ====
Usually means the tone lacks bass or [[#Warm|warmth]], but isn't just related to the frequency response. It can also mean the tone is too dry or the distortion isn't squishy or warm or punchy enough. The term relates to the association of thinner strings or objects having less mass and producing less momentum, resonance, and lower frequencies. This is almost always used in a negative context - "the tone sounds too thin and wimpy". Opposite of [[#Thick]].
