''NOTE: panning is not the same thing as balance, typically found on consumer stereo devices. Balance simply adjusts the volume of the left field vs. right field, whereas panning "pushes" the right field into the left when panning to the left and vice versa. In other words, balance full left simply mutes the right field. Panning full left means that the original left and right fields are equally present in the left field while the right field now contains no sound.''
