Kemper's virtual signal chain consists of 4 effect blocks in front of the amp and cab profiles. These are collectively known as '''"Stomps"''', while each of the individual blocks is called a '''"Stomp"'''. Similarly, there are 4 effects processed after the amp and cab profiles, known collectively as '''"Effects"''' and each individually as an '''"Effect"'''.

This can be confusing when dealing with presets. Stomps presets are presets for all 4 effects in the Stomps section. Effects presets similarly include all 4 effects in the Effects section. Yet, the KPA's backups and formatted USB layout include a folder called "Effect" (in addition to "Effects"). The Effect folder stores all presets for individual effects, whether they are located in a Stomp slot or Effect slot.
