Blues originated in African American slaves in the southern United States.
The common minor blues scale is the same as the minor pentatonic scale, plus the d5/a4/tt between the 4th and 5th. It is seen as the D# in the A blues scale below.

=== Blues Shuffle ===
Rather than simply playing sustained chords or strumming patterns, blues would often use a ''shuffle'' to indicate the harmony. This consists of alternating between P5, M6, and m7 intervals, almost like a riff, often employing some sort or swing feel.
