To tune your guitar in standard tuning, each string should be an identical pitch to the next string when fretted at the 5th fret. So the 1st string E should be identical to the 2nd string 5th fret. 2nd string open should be B, the first fret is C, 2nd fret C#{{s}}, 3rd fret D, 4th fret D#{{s}}, 5th fret E. The only two strings this does not apply to are the 2nd and 3rd strings. Open 2nd string should be equal to 4th fret 3rd string.
