- The major scale a perfect fifth above the current scale contains the same notes but the 4th in the current scale is sharped to become the major 7th of the new scale.
- The minor scale a perfect fifth above the current scale contains the same notes but the 6th in the current scale is sharped to become the major 2nd of the new scale.
