Pedals/Effects
=== Pedals/Effects ===
A wide variety of digital and analog devices exist to process a guitar signal in some way. These typically appear in either a ''rack'' or ''pedal'' form factor. ''Pedals'' typically have one function and are engaged or disengaged by stepping on them (which led them to be called ''stomp boxes''). ''Rack'' effects are generally more complex, tackling multiple types of effects simultaneously, and are controlled by MIDI.

Here's a list of common effects:

* Compression/Limiting
* Distortion/Overdrive/Boosting
* EQ/Filtering
* Modulation (Chorus, Phaser, Flanger, Tremelo)
* Pitch-Shifting
* Synth/Waveform Processing
* Delay
* Reverb
* Noise Gate/Expander
* Wah-wah
* Volume control
