You'll notice you only encountered 3 whole-step/half-step patterns for each group of 3 notes:
* <tt>|o|-|o|-|o|</tt> - ''whole-whole''(w-w). I sometimes call this one ''stretch'', because it requires you to stretch a bit.* <tt>|o|-|o|o|-|</tt>, - ''whole-half''(w-h). I sometimes call this one ''ring'', because it is most comfortable using the ring finger on the middle note.* <tt>|o|o|-|o|-|</tt>, - ''half-whole''(h-w). I sometimes call this one ''middle'', because it is most comfortable using the middle finger on the middle note.
