* Practice playing all the C Major notes in groups of 3 by position ascending and descending. Play without a metronome at first. Focus on the most difficult parts, but never strain yourself to the point of pain. This will most likely be using the pinky, stretching the index and middle fingers, and stretching the middle finger and pinky.
** Say the note names out loud as you play. This adds extra muscles and senses to the process, helping you to learn them more quickly.
** Try to hold the stretches, fretting both notes simultaneously. This will help develop the flexibility in your hand. "Jumping" will eventually hurt your ability to sustain notes properly and be obvious to listeners - it will sound sloppy.
** Try to maintain good technique, using the tips of your fingers to fret and most importantly fretting right behind each fret.
